Course Overview

This course is designed for those who want to go deeper in the understanding of water management on the landscape. Together, we will integrate theory and practice, understanding the techniques we have available to turn erosion and water scarcity into abundance and fertility.

The course is thought for those who already have a basic foundation in regenerative land design. Nevertheless, we will go from the ground up and if you have a solid interest in the topic you are most welcome!

The program

During our time together we will guide you through regenerative water management strategies starting from the basics. Theory will be supported by practical work, and ere is a list of the theoretical topics that we will cover during the course:

Theory

- In depth study of contour lines and maps

- Reading the landscape to understand water flow

- The water cycle

- Hydrology

- Designing tree systems to increase water efficiency

Practice

- Creating a contour map with a drone

- Tracing contour lines on the land

- Using softwares to design water retention systems (dams, swales, diversion drains etc...)

- Design and implementation of a check dam, swale and other water retention features

Note that the exact practical activities will depend on group needs, weather, and availability of machinery at the time of the course

Eduardo Terzidis is a permaculture teacher and consultant, a writer and a yoga teacher. As an engineer, he wanted to help the world, yet he felt the need to “be out there”, learning and sharing with the very people who seek the same change he envisioned. At the core of his work is the understanding that global change needs to be carried from the inside out, recognising the intricate web of which we are part and being able to play our role in support of all life. Today he focuses on water management and agroforestry for mediterranean and provides 1:1 sessions to individuals to support them in manifesting their mission and dreams.
